The Chicago Blackhawks had the third overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. They won it and moved up big time in the lottery. They selected Kirby Dach with the third overall pick and it was a pick that received mixed reviews. Well, it doesn’t matter anymore because he is the guy now. He looks like he used his time off very wisely and is ready to go in these playoffs.

My biggest comparison for Dach after the draft was Anaheim Ducks forward, Ryan Getzlaf. Well, some Hawks fans might remember how impressive Getzlaf was back in his prime. He is still good now and if Dach could have that kind of career, the Hawks would be so lucky. The way that they play is perfect for Stanley Cup Playoff action. Having those big, skilled centerman can really go a long way for your forwards this time of year.

Dach is going to get some power-play time with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. That is huge for him as he looks to create offense from the dirty areas. He is going to try to score some goals for them with the man advantage or at least be a pain in the rear end in front of the goalie. Edmonton’s power play is really good so Chicago needs to match it. He also needs to be a contributing factor at even strength as well. This kid is going to be fun to watch in this tournament and for many years to come.
