As the Chicago Bears get ready to report to training camp, what are some underrated names to watch on the defensive side of the ball?

If there is one successful thing that Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace has done since arriving in Chicago six years ago, it has been the ability to continue to find underrated talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Many of Pace’s best additions have come via the NFL Draft, as well as the undrafted free agent pool. Some of Pace’s best additions over the last few years have included Bilal Nichols, Roy Robertson-Harris, and Bryce Callahan, all of whom have proven that they can play at a high level with the Bears

In 2020, Pace would continue the trend of being able to find players that with a little bit of development, could potentially end up being contributors for the Bears at some point down the road. To continue to do this is critical for two reasons.

First, the Bears roster continues to get older, meaning over the next few years, veterans will need to be cut in an effort to save salary cap space. This will mean that younger players will have to fill the void left.

Second, the best teams in the NFL continue to find talent, regardless of how stacked they might be at a certain position. On defense, you can never have too many linebackers or pass rushers who are willing to get after the quarterback.

With the Bears getting ready to report training camp within a matter of days, who are some underrated defensive players to keep an eye on over the next few weeks?
