Chicago Bears: Khalil Mack and 5 Madden ’21 franchise cornerstones
By Ryan Heckman
5. Khalil Mack
Six seasons in, Khalil Mack has 61.5 sacks, five straight Pro Bowl appearances, three All Pro selections and he just turned 29 years old. With plenty of years ahead and no reason to believe he’ll slow down anytime soon, Mack checks in at no. 5 overall on my list of franchise cornerstones.
Since entering the NFL, Mack has been the epitome of consistency and a model of health. In five of his six seasons, Mack has started all 16 games, missing just a couple in 2018.
Regardless of the Bears’ fate, Mack will continue to be one of the most feared pass rushers in the game. He’s proven to be an absolute menace to opposing offensive lines, coming up with 11 forced fumbles over the last two seasons combined. He’s become such a force that, more often than not, you’ll see him double-teamed and on some occasions, triple-teamed.
A guy like this can change the face of an entire franchise. When he was traded to the Bears two seasons ago, Mack immediately provided Chicago a level of hope and excitement they hadn’t had in years. The whole team changed because of one guy.
Still, he is so dominant that Bears fans can have the highest of expectations regarding their football team — that is, if they can figure out the quarterback situation. But, that’s an argument for another day.
