Chicago Bears rookie pass rusher Trevis Gipson still has a lot to learn, but he’s already figured out the strong disdain towards Aaron Rodgers.

Back in April, Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace made a couple of moves in the 2020 NFL Draft. Most would have assumed he would make at least one trade, but Pace actually made a couple. The first of them was trading up in the fifth round to grab Tulsa pass rusher Trevis Gipson.

There may not have been a better spot for a rookie, later-round pass rusher to end up in this year’s draft. The Bears boast what would end up being the league’s scariest pass rush duo in Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn. What better place to go to learn and grow your game as a rookie?

With training camp kicking off this week — assuming the NFL and the players come to some kind of agreement over safety protocols — Gipson will be one of the first to report. Rookies are scheduled to report to camp on Tuesday.

There will be much more to learn this year, as a rookie, than any past training camp. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, of course, offseason programs have been virtual. I am sure Gipson, like his fellow rookies, are more than eager to get on the field to practice. One thing he’s already learned, even without practicing a down, is how much the Bears fan base truly despises Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

I am certain that all Bears fans, like myself, can read this tweet and immediately smile from ear to ear. As a fan base, we love when a newcomer immediately recognizes the rivalry and disdain for the Green Bay Packers franchise. For many years now, that disdain begins with Rodgers. It’s a trickle down effect, really.

It’s difficult to like any player on the team you most hate, but at least there are players such as Matthew Stafford and Kyle Rudolph even most Bears fans respect and love off the field. But, when it comes to the Packers? It’s impossible to bring yourself, as a Bears fan, to say the same thing about a player on that team.

Why? Because when you think of the Packers, you think of Aaron Rodgers — and when you think of Rodgers, you immediately think, “Yeah, I don’t like that guy.”

Am I wrong?

Bears fans must hate the Packers. It’s an unwritten rule. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was written down somewhere, but that’s besides the point. To be a rookie in Chicago, you have to learn one thing quickly, and Gipson has it figured out.

We hate the Packers.
