2. Enough time to make a WR decision?

One of the biggest worries amongst NFL teams, coaches, players and fans is whether or not there will be any preseason games. At the very least, two preseason games would be highly necessary to make key roster decisions.

Of those key roster decisions for the Bears will be to figure out who to keep as you go lower on the wide receiver depth chart. Clearly, Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller are safe. You’d like to think rookie Darnell Mooney is also safe, considering the Bears drafted him this year.

But, quite frankly, nothing beyond those guys would shock me. The newly-signed Ted Ginn Jr. very well could be cut if he doesn’t have enough time to mesh with the team. He’s older and he signed for a small amount of money. The Bears don’t lose much, there.

Riley Ridley is a likely candidate to step up and claim the number three receiver role. But, at the same time, there may be a reason he rarely played as a rookie. Would the Bears even consider cutting last year’s fourth-round pick? That seems silly, but we don’t know much right now.

Cordarrelle Patterson figures to be used in a lot of ways this season, so I’m not sure I could fathom seeing him cut.

But, Javon Wims might be the odd man out. The third-year pro hasn’t gotten enough run during the regular season, and as a seventh-round pick, has little investment from the Bears. Still, the big-bodied wideout has a huge catch radius and made big play after big play at Georgia. There’s a reason he felt like a steal that late in the draft a couple of years ago.

The receiving battles will be one of the closest-watched battles in camp. No matter who the Bears have to say goodbye to as they round out their depth chart, many fans will be upset.
