Chicago Bears: Mitchell Trubisky belongs in this QB tier for 2020
By Ryan Heckman
Bottom Tier
Ryan Fitzpatrick
He is the yardage king, but throws too many Jay Cutler type interceptions. Also, that wasn’t a jab at Cutler. He was a better quarterback than Fitzpatrick ever has been.
Drew Lock
After this season, we will learn a lot about Drew Lock. He very well could take a huge jump on this list. The Broncos surrounded him with plenty of weapons at all positions, so the sky is the limit for this kid if he takes full advantage.
Gardner Minshew
Some throws, Gardner Minshew looks like a top-tier quarterback. Other decisions, not so much. One full season should tell us a lot more.
Tyrod Taylor
I almost threw Tyrod Taylor in the middle tier, because he’s always been an above-average quarterback when given the starting job — at least, prior to the Browns days. He is careful with the football and has that dual-threat ability, also.
Mitchell Trubisky
Here he is, folks. This is where Trubisky belongs. Whether or not you agree with it, the 2020 season might in fact confirm this notion that Trubisky is a bottom-tier passer in the league.
Sam Darnold
I just don’t see it with Sam Darnold. That’s it. That’s the analysis.
Dwayne Haskins
If Dwayne Haskins proves he can move more in the pocket during his second season, he just might have a future in the NFL. I hope he takes a step, because the more young, talented quarterbacks in the NFL, the better.
Unproven (Rookies)
Joe Burrow
Tua Tagovailoa
Justin Herbert
So, now is the time where you light up the comments. Tell me why I’m wrong — about Trubisky, or about any other guy. Go ahead, I can handle it.
