Chicago Bears: How a Raheem Mostert trade would look
By Ryan Heckman
What does an ideal trade look like?
From San Francisco’s point of view, they have to look at this trade situation realistically. Sure, Mostert was the biggest factor in their run game surging the team to the Super Bowl last year. However, the fact that Shanahan has proven he can find success with any back on his team, that immediately lowers Mostert’s trade value.
Let’s just say this: San Francisco probably won’t get what they would like in return.
Mostert has plenty of ground to stand on, being the no. 1 back on a team where he isn’t paid like it — and, coming off a season where he averaged 5.6 yards per carry and scored a touchdown every 15 touches, he should be paid like it.
From the Bears’ perspective, they have to remember there is no fourth-round pick in 2021, which might have been the perfect trade ammunition to acquire Mostert. So, what does a realistic deal look like?
Knowing Ryan Pace and his history of executing deals like this, I believe he could pull it off once more — meaning, the Bears would grab a pick in this deal along with the player (similar to the Khalil Mack deal).
Chicago would have to sacrifice a third-round pick, which is normally some pretty hefty capital to trade for a running back these days. Not to mention, they throw in a fifth rounder next year as well. However, Pace earns that fourth-rounder back which he originally lost when he traded up for Trevis Gipson in this year’s draft.
