Chicago Bears: 3 players team must sign with new roster limit
By Ryan Heckman
1. Guard Larry Warford
One of the greatest mysteries still out there among free agents is Pro Bowl guard Larry Warford, who was released by the New Orleans Saints earlier this offseason. Not only is Warford a Pro Bowler, but he’s a 3-time Pro Bowler — the last three seasons, specifically.
Warford is a player at the height of his career, still under 30 years old, and doesn’t have a job. Not only that, but he’s a player who would come in and start from Day 1 in Chicago.
Everyone knows the gigantic void left by recently-retired Kyle Long. It was a retirement many saw was coming sooner rather than later, but it still hurts nonetheless. Without a healthy Long up front, the Bears’ run game suffered immensely. It really didn’t matter who was in the back field, they couldn’t get past the line of scrimmage half the time.
David Montgomery needs that extra talent in front of him. Heck, whichever quarterback ends up starting needs Warford even more. The fact that he’s still unsigned is ludicrous. If I’m Ryan Pace, this is my no. 1 priority free agent right now.
