Chicago Bears Rumors: 3 reasons to trade for David Njoku
By Ryan Heckman
1. It’s simple: Youth and talent
For three seasons, we’ve been on the cusp of seeing Njoku fully break out. As a former first-round pick who will be looking to get paid shortly, Njoku was destined for a coming-out party in 2020. But, the Browns had other plans at the position, so it’ll have to be on another team if it happens at all.

Njoku is entering his fourth season in the NFL and will turn 24 years old in a few days. He still has his entire career ahead of him, it seems. In 2019, Njoku missed the majority of the season due to a broken wrist. But, he is healed up and healthy now.
Back during his pre-NFL days, Njoku ran a 4.64 second 40-yard dash and leapt to a 40-inch vertical on his Pro Day. ESPN did a Sports Science segment on him where his vertical was seen soaring to a ridiculous 44.5 inches — and that’s a man who weighs well over 250 pounds.
To top off the vertical and speed aspect of his game, Njoku also has an enormous catch radius — one that Sports Science compared favorably to Tampa Bay wideout Mike Evans.
This is a tight end we’re talking about.
The Bears don’t have anyone close to Njoku in terms of raw athleticism at the tight end position, and this guy could become an instant red zone threat in Chicago.
