Chicago Bulls: 4 impending free agents to watch when season resumes

2. Guard Austin Rivers
As I previously stated, it will be interesting to see what the Bulls do with their guard room over the next year or so. But, going after a player like Austin Rivers would give them something they saw in Tomas Satoransky last summer, and that’s versatility.
Rivers has plenty of experience being able to play shooting guard as well as be a facilitator. Since he switched primarily to being a two guard, though, he’s seemed to find his groove. He’s found his role, and that’s a very solid 3-and-D rotational player.
He’s a guy you could absolutely throw into a starting lineup if need be, but Rivers is the ideal first or second guard coming off the bench, and he fits comfortably on the floor with either another point guard or a second two guard.
With the Rockets this year, Rivers has started only four games but he’s played in 60. In 23.4 minutes per game, Rivers is posting 8.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Rivers is taking about four shots per game from beyond the arc, too, and knocking them down at about 36 percent, which is fair, considering last season he was sitting around 31 percent.
If the Bulls had a roster spot open up in the guard room, Rivers would be a solid, cheaper veteran signing. His high character and experience would be great paired with the younger guys on this roster.
