The Chicago Blackhawks should be worried about Edmonton’s Connor McDavid.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to dance with the Edmonton Oilers if the NHL’s return to play plan comes to fruition in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Well, if that happens, the Blackhawks need to be terrified of the impact Connor McDavid has on his hockey team year in and year out. Slowing him down (because shutting him down is impossible) is probably the biggest key for anyone to defeat the Edmonton Oilers.

Make no mistake about it, Connor McDavid is the best hockey player on the planet. He scores the most points almost every year and is probably the most lethal player the game has seen in a long time. He scores a lot of goals and he makes everyone else around him look so good on a nightly basis. He is also the fastest player in the history of the game and he doesn’t slow down when the puck is on his stick like other fast players do.

Shutting down McDavid is so important. Think of the impact Patrick Kane has on the Hawks and put that on McDavid for the Oilers. In 2019, he had 34 goals and 63 assists for 97 points in 64 games before the pause. He was probably going to go forward and be in the 120 point range if the season was allowed to continue.

Shutting down or at least doing your best to contain production like that is always going to be so important in a short series like this. The Blackhawks defense isn’t that great on paper but being steady when McDavid is on the ice is something they need to do if they can. Corey Crawford making saves on chances McDavid is able to create for himself and his teammates are also something that just needs to happen.

Hot. Proud of the leader Patrick Kane has become. light

He is one of the most impactful players this game has ever seen and that isn’t going to change once this playoff gets going. As long as the team understands how terrifying he is on the ice the better their chances will be of winning. He is not to be taken lightly and the Blackhawks need to know that as much as anyone otherwise they will be toast.
