2. OT Jason Spriggs

Just 26 years old and born in Chicago, Jason Spriggs spent the first four years of his career with the Green Bay Packers where he started a total of nine games over a three-year period. While Spriggs was mostly a backup, he’s also a former second-round pick.

There is a reason that Spriggs was drafted 48th overall in 2016: Potential. However, the Packers failed to develop him correctly and he also dealt with injury issues that lead to his release earlier this offseason.

Spriggs isn’t expected to start in 2020 but he can become a good backup player and be a swing tackle for the Bears in key situations. While he will still have a reduced role on this team, the Bears know how much value a good swing tackle has, especially in Matt Nagy’s offense.

Essentially, by taking on a reduced role, Spriggs has a chance to set himself up for a small payday in 2021 that will still allow for him to extend his NFL career. He will also likely be competing for the backup right tackle spot, a competition that will feature rookies like Lachavious Simmons and Badara Traore.
