Chicago Bears: Players who could revive career in 2020
By Usayd Koshul
1. RG Germain Ifedi
A former first-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks back in 2016, Germain Ifedi is just 26 years old and has experience playing both right guard and right tackle. While his tenure in Seattle was rocky, with the Bears, he’ll solely focus on being a right guard and will enter training camp as the most experienced right guard on the Bears roster.
Ifedi will be tasked with competing against Rashaad Coward and Alex Bars, both of whom were on the roster in 2019. Bars was inactive for most of last season while Coward was inconsistent meaning that Ifedi has an opportunity to prove he can live up the expectations that saw him get drafted in round one just five years ago.
Durability and availability shouldn’t be an issue for Ifedi, who’s played a full 16 games twice in his career. He’s started a total of 60 games over a four-year period which shows that he should be ready to go come week one barring any injuries. Overall, if Ifedi can stay healthy and rediscover the magic that made him an effective right guard, he has a chance to be a core piece of the Bears offensive line for years to come.
