3. OT Bobby Massie

Bobby Massie is one of the few players on this contract who is under contract until 2023. However, he’s also 31 years old and is on his second contract with the Bears. Originally signed as a free agent from the Arizona Cardinals in 2016, Massie has been solid at right tackle over the last four years.

After signing a four-year extension during the 2019 offseason, Massie is a candidate who will be cut at some point, whether in 2021, 2022, or 2023. If the Bears cut him over the next three offseason, they’ll save $5.4 million, $6.7 million, and $8 million dollars respectively.

Much like Charles Leno Jr., if Massie doesn’t turn things around in 2020, he could be a strong candidate to see himself get cut. Keep in mind that Massie’s 2019 season also ended early due to injuries. He’d start in just 10 games meaning that durability was a real issue for the first time in his career. From 2016 until 2018, Massie would start in 46 total games for the Bears.

Overall, Massie is one of the more intriguing names on this list because he’s getting older but then is also under contract for a few more seasons. If injuries do become an issue again in 2020, he’d be a strong candidate to be cut.
