It’s time to begin looking at Chicago Bears who could be cap casualties during the 2021 NFL offseason.

For the Chicago Bears, 2020 will be all about turning around a team that won just eight games in 2019 in what was perhaps one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history. The Bears are focused on 2020 but the 2021 offseason is also something that needs to be kept in mind when looking at the Bears future.

Every offseason, for any NFL team, decisions need to be made about two kinds of players. The first kind are veterans, who have had a solid run with their respective teams. However, due to a decline in play or for salary cap purposes, teams move on from these vets and replace them with younger talent. The Bears have a few names like this on the roster such as Charles Leno Jr. and Bobby Massie.

The second kind of players are those who are younger, have shown potential but haven’t done enough to make their cases for staying on an NFL roster. On the Bears roster, these are guys like wide receivers Javon Wims and Riley Ridley.

Due to the current pandemic, one of the issues that the NFL is facing is whether or not there will be fans that are allowed to attend games in 2020. This is an issue that could have an impact on the NFL’s 2021 salary cap situation, which could mean a decrease in the salary cap, especially in a year where many expected the cap to see a significant increase.

This could lead the Bears into some tough decisions and depending on how the situation plays out, the Bears could have to sacrifice some pieces in order to hold onto more important pieces. The 2021 offseason may be a long time away but what are some names who could be playing their final season with the Bears? Let’s examine some names and find out.
