4. Cornerback Buster Skrine

Here is the logic behind having Buster Skrine on this list. The current depth chart, per multiple outlets such as ESPN, has Skrine as the favorite to line up opposite of Kyle Fuller. We all would assume that Skrine sticks to his place in the slot, but with this offseason (or lack thereof), who knows exactly what will happen or who will start where.

In all likelihood, Skrine will not start opposite of Fuller. If he does, I think he’ll lose that spot quickly to Jaylon Johnson, once the team sees how comfortable Johnson is within this defense. As one of their top draft picks this year, Johnson comes into the league having a ton of first-round grades on him and was one of the top corners in the class.

Here is another scenario, though: Rookie Kindle Vildor develops quickly and overtakes the slot cornerback position over Skrine. It sounds crazy, but Vildor is a scrappy type of player who just might impress enough to earn some playing time. You cannot discount a Bears draft pick this year, either, as they had limited capital and even made a couple of trades. Vildor will absolutely have a shot to compete.

In the end, I think Skrine sticks it out at the slot corner position and starts for the Bears. But, there is going to be much more competition for him this year in comparison to 2019, that is for certain.
