A secondary option for the Chicago Bulls would be Kawhi Leonard

When you think about Kawhi Leonard as a secondary option, he would be an amazing consolation prize. Leonard is arguably one of the best players currently in the NBA. What he brings to the offensive side of the ball is only part of his game. He is definitely one of the best two-way players in the NBA.

Leonard has averaged over 26 points per game in the last two seasons. During that same span, he has averaged seven rebounds per game. Last season, Leonard was fifth in player efficiency ratings. He was also top-10 in usage rating.

If the Bulls landed Leonard, the starting lineup would be Coby White, Zach LaVine, Kawhi Leonard, Lauri Markkenen and Wendell Carter, Jr. Honestly, with the Bulls salary cap, the team could probably upgrade one of Markkenen or Carter too. There are some interesting big men available in this free agency class as well.

Adding Leonard would be an asset to a team that struggles on defense. He brings a 0.135 defensive win shares rating, which was 22nd best in the NBA last season. Leonard turns 30 during the 2021-22 season. He has a player option with the Clippers but hopefully decides to enter free agency instead.
