Chicago Bears: Ranking NFC North wide receiving cores
By Ryan Heckman
3. Green Bay Packers
There will be some Packer fans who come blazing into my mentions, and that’s fine. But, the truth of the matter is, those same fans were appalled at the fact that their team failed to get another weapon at the receiver position in the draft.
Green Bay has arguably the most physically imposing receiver in the division, Davante Adams. Let’s first talk about him, because he’s a specimen. There might not be a better red zone target, at the receiver position, than Adams — maybe Cooper Kupp, but Adams is in the conversation.
Last year, Adams caught just five touchdowns, which was the main disappointment with his season. He also barely failed to hit the 1,000-yard mark. Over his 6-year career, Adams has only reached 1,000 yards receiving once. However, he did finish with double-digit touchdowns for three straight seasons from 2016-2018.
After Adams, the Packers have Devin Funchess, who comes over from the Indianapolis Colts after appearing in just one game in his only season with Indy. Right now, no one knows what to expect from Funchess, especially coming off a season-ending injury.
Then, there’s the young kid Allen Lazard, who earned high praise from Rodgers last year. But, he’s also unproven at this stage. Thus, Packer fans desperately wanted to see a wideout drafted this year — and they didn’t.
