Chicago Bulls: 4 players to keep around for long haul
By Ryan Heckman
3. Guard Coby White
My favorite current Chicago Bull is, hands down, Coby White. The Bulls have not had a rookie this exciting since Rose, and it only took Jim Boylen two thirds of the season to realize the kid belonged in the starting lineup.
Getting White at no. 7 overall last year seemed like best case scenario, and many fans obviously would have rather seen Chicago pick higher than that. But, when White started to come on later in his rookie season, the thought of coming away with him at seven seemed like a value.
Not only does Chicago have LaVine, who can create his own offense, but White also. The way White moves with the ball is pure electricity. He’s so quick and so good at those step-back jumpers. It’s almost weird seeing someone not named LaVine creating his own shot, but that’s exactly what White can do.
In just 65 games during his rookie campaign, White already set some impressive career-highs in points (35) and three pointers made in a game (seven). The confidence in White’s future after just a snippet into his potential should be through the roof.
This kid is an enormous part of the future in Chicago. He’ll be here for the long haul.
