Chicago Blackhawks: Three options for Patrick Kane’s center
Jonathan Toews is the second-best player on the Blackhawks but you shouldn’t underestimate how important he is to the team. He is right there with Patrick Kane in terms of importance. Kane is the better player because of the numbers he puts up but Toews is amazing too, no doubt about it. Well, what if they were put together on a line for this series?
They have only played on a line full time once and it was the 2018-19 season. They both set career highs in points that season. The nice thing is that it allowed Alex DeBrincat and Dylan Strome to carry the depth scoring while Toews and Kane did their thing on the top line. It was nice to see but they didn’t see much time together during the regular season this year.
No matter what, Toews is going to see a lot of McDavid and Daisaitl so if Kane was on his line, he would need to be extra responsible. If they are able to shut them down, a guy like Kane might be able to take advantage of any misses they have and create offense. It might be a matter of trading scoring chances and trusting Corey Crawford if that were the case. Toews is one of the best two-way centers the league has seen in the last 20 years so it might really be a good idea to see Kane play with him in the playoffs.
No matter which center Kane is lined up next to, he is going to be productive. He is one of the best offensive players in the world. Not many in the league are able to match what he is able to do so it is important to have him happy and healthy for the playoffs. Whichever center has the honors will certainly reap the benefits.
