Chicago Bears: 4 players facing make-or-break seasons in 2020
By Ryan Heckman
2. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky
Attention: Water is wet, grass is green, Bears fans hate Aaron Rodgers and… Mitchell Trubisky is facing a make-or-break season in 2020. Putting bias or opinion aside, this is the most important season of Trubisky’s football life — and it ain’t close.

Just look at the facts. Trubisky is a former no. 2 overall pick. He has the weight and expectations of the world on his shoulders; even more so now after seeing the success of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson.
With that in mind, the Bears went out and traded for a Super Bowl champion in veteran quarterback Nick Foles this offseason. The team declined his fifth year option — obviously, because there’s no chance they pay him $24 million in 2021, no matter what.
Trubisky is on the cusp of being replaced by a veteran in the temporary, and will be completely out of the picture in Chicago by next season — at least, that’s by most accounts.
So, what does he have to do in 2020 for all of the odds to be crushed before his eyes? It’s fairly simple. He has to cement himself as the number one quarterback during training camp. There should be absolutely zero doubt in the mind of Matt Nagy that this is his quarterback for 2020.
The ugly training camp last year should have prepared us for regression. Well, whenever we see a training camp this year (and whatever it looks like), Trubisky can’t afford a bad practice. He can hardly afford a few bad throws. Everything is stacked against him. It’s now or never for the Biscuit.
