3. Forward Thaddeus Young

Even though he was in the middle of his first year with the Bulls, veteran forward Thaddeus Young had grown tired of his role with the team. Young played the fewest amount of minutes per game in ’19-20 since his rookie year. There were whispers that he already wanted out of Chicago.

If the Bulls kick Jim Boylen to the curb and bring in a head coach who will use Young the correct way, then I’m all for keeping him. That said, Young would have to be bought in and have a desire to stick around. But, he’s a valuable player, especially for a championship team.

That’s the reason I would sell him if I were Chicago. If a championship contender needed one more piece, in terms of depth, then Young would fit that bill. Historically, Young is a double-digit scorer who can guard multiple positions and provide solid rebounding and defense at the small forward position.

Young’s contract runs a total of three years for $13.5 million next season and over $14 million in his final season. That’s not big money by any means, but it’s enough to make a difference if the Bulls wanted to make something of their free agency period either this summer or next.
