The 2016 Chicago Cubs were the best thing that happened to the Cubs in a long time. For 108 years fans waited for a moment in which the Cubs would win a world series, and all of that waiting paid off.

The Last Dance documentary was something that everyone around the sporting world loved to watch. Personally, I found it fun and exciting to watch Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen tear up the NBA and help bring six championships to Chicago. It made me think of some of the other teams in Chicago that have won championships recently, and my mind instantly went to the Chicago Cubs.

With a 103-58 record in 2016 the Cubs captured first in the National League Central and were favorites to win it all that fall. I remember watching at home with skepticism that the Cubs were not going to be able to pull it off, and that they would fall yet again in the playoffs.

However, the Cubs managed to scratch and claw their way into the world series to play the Cleveland Indians. I know everyone remembers their comeback after falling behind 3-1 in the series, and the infamous rain delay in game 7 that might have helped calm the team down and guarantee a win for the Cubs in extra innings. Rewatch the final play now and ask yourself whether or not you want to relive it all again!

I think the biggest reason we need a documentary about this 2016 Chicago Cubs is so we can see the players perspective going at it day to day throughout the season, and their mindset going into the playoffs. They knew how fans thought about this team, and how they were considered cursed, but they still managed to rise above and win.

The Chicago Cubs winning the world series was one of the top moments in all of sports for me as a fan. While it may be a little too soon to take a deep dive into that season with commentary from the players and management as we got in the Last Dance, one day I hope we will get something!
