Chicago Bears: 4 trade packages to pull the trigger on
By Ryan Heckman
Trade No. 1
Josh Rosen is now known as the first-round quarterback who has had one of the roughest starts to any first-rounder’s career in recent memory. He was in such a bad spot with the Arizona Cardinals to begin his career as a rookie, and when they took Kyler Murray in the next year’s draft, it signaled the end to a short stint with his first team.
Now, with the Miami Dolphins, he saw the team select Tua Tagovailoa in the first round while sticking with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick as their bridge guy. So, what does that mean for Rosen? Surely the Dolphins won’t carry three quarterbacks when they have their surefire franchise quarterback in Tua, right?
Speaking of a team carrying three quarterbacks, the Bears should absolutely entertain that idea. They’re a team without a future at the position, and if Rosen came in and proved he was, at the very least a great backup, it’s well-worth a sixth rounder.
Should Rosen come in and learn behind Foles, and the Bears let Mitchell Trubisky walk in 2021, maybe he becomes that starting quarterback material many saw him as back in the 2018 draft. He has been given everything but a fair shot so far in his young career, and if the Bears could snag a guy with such high draft stock with a late-round selection, they have to do it.
