3. Offensive Tackle

It is no secret that the Bears starting offensive tackles for 2020 are already on the roster, with Charles Leno Jr. and Bobby Massie occupying left and right tackle respectively. However, if the salary cap does become an issue for the NFL next offseason, the Bears could have to cut ties with either Leno or Massie or potentially both.

Cutting Leno would mean the Bears save $6.2 million while cutting Massie would save $6.7 million dollars. Additionally, Massie is set to turn 32 in 2021, meaning there’s a much higher chance that he’s a cap casualty.

It’s more likely that the Bears decide to draft a prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft for a few reasons. First, they will have a first-round pick and there are a few names that Walker Little (Stanford) and Samuel Cosmi (Texas) that would interest the Bears.

Overall, offensive tackle is one position that there is a strong chance the Bears decide to make a few moves at next offseason. Unless Leno Jr. and Massie excel in 2020, the Bears will consider making a change as they build towards the long-term outlook of the team.
