Chicago Bears: Potential needs team could address in 2021

2. Right Guard
Germain Ifedi, Rashaad Coward, and Alex Bars are currently the three players who will be battling it out for the right guard position in 2020. What the Bears hope is that Ifedi, who signed a one-year, prove it deal in free agency.
What the Bears are banking on is Ifedi living up to his first-round potential, the same one that got him drafted in 2016. If he does this, the team will look to sign him to a long-term deal in 2021. But if not, the Bears will need to figure out a long-term solution, likely via the free agent market which could potentially include Brandon Scherff and Joe Thuney.
Overall, right guard is another position that will be one to monitor for the Bears all throughout 2020. The Bears have a temporary solution but not a long-term one. Keep in mind that when teams bring in young offensive lineman, the goal is that they can hopefully become long-term fixtures on the offensive line for at least the next eight to ten years.
