Chicago Bears: 4 players who should not make the roster
By Ryan Heckman
3. Tight End Adam Shaheen
Most people would assume that, at this point, Adam Shaheen is not making this roster. However, he is one of Ryan Pace’s former second-round picks. The one reason I could see for Shaheen sticking around for this season is simple — pride.
Chicago Bears
I would not be surprised if Pace and the coaching staff kept Shaheen around for this last year of his rookie deal. I would be outraged sure. But I wouldn’t be surprised.
The fact of the matter is, Shaheen hasn’t exactly lived up to his draft billing, nor his former nickname “Baby Gronk,” which fans quickly gave up on. The thought that Shaheen actually had a comparison to Rob Gronkowski at one point is hilarious.
Shaheen’s best season came as a rookie, where he ended the year with 12 receptions for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Over his three-year career, Shaheen has just 26 receptions for 249 yards and four scores.
The tight ends I would hope to see stay on the roster are: Jimmy Graham, Cole Kmet, Demetrius Harris and J.P. Holtz, who would function more as a fullback than anything else. You could make a case for Holtz switching his position to fullback, and then the Bears might keep Ben Braunecker or Jesper Horsted.
