Chicago Bears: 4 players who should not make the roster

In preparing for a season full of Super Bowl hopes for the Chicago Bears, there are a handful of players who simply don’t belong on this roster.
This offseason has been an eventful one for the Chicago Bears. For all fans, it has been, in a word: Necessary. We have craved meaningful sports happenings for about two months now, and the NFL has given it to us. For Chicago, specifically, several of their happenings could be labeled eventful, but are they meaningful?
Did general manager Ryan Pace go out of his way to ensure that this team can make a Super Bowl run? Did he add enough pieces at the correct spots so that this roster is much improved from a season ago?
He certainly had his strategy, that’s for sure. Part of his offseason plan appeared to be signing veteran free agents who had walked the walk for a few years, while bringing in younger guys at the same position to learn and develop under those veterans.
For example, take a look at the tight end spot. Pace signed Jimmy Graham, who is not necessarily the once-dominant force. But, he’s going to be a big part in the progress of rookie Cole Kmet. Another great example is signing Robert Quinn to come alongside of Khalil Mack, and both can mentor the kid out of Tulsa, Trevis Gipson.
Other signings, though, haven’t been as spectacular, and I’m not so sure they stick around to be honest. There are plenty of guys on this roster who, in all likelihood, will be cut prior to the final roster being announced. But, are there a few mixed in who could be released by surprise?
It happens every year. There are definitely surprise cuts. But, surprise or not, I see a handful of current Bears who shouldn’t make this roster — and for the most part, it’s easy to see why. Some are even going into their first season with the Bears after hitting free agency this spring, and even that shouldn’t stop the coaching staff from cutting ties.
The following four players should not appear on the final roster. Love them or hate them, that’s your prerogative. But, I just don’t see room for them — nor a real purpose.
