Chicago Bears Rumors: 3 trade packages for Russell Wilson
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Package No. 3
So, what if Wilson actually became available via trade next year? Let’s look at the most likely outcome for Seattle’s 2020 season. In all reality, the Seahawks should not lose more than eight games. So, they’d be looking at a mid-to-late first rounder in the 2021 Draft.
Should Seattle want to trade Wilson, who would replace him? They would have to either move up and draft one of next year’s top quarterbacks or bring in a veteran as a bridge for a year or two. In relation to the Bears, Seattle might find a perfect bridge.
The last trade package sees Chicago trade veteran Nick Foles, plus a 2021 first-round pick and a 2022 first-round pick. In exchange, they get Wilson along with a 2021 sixth-round pick.
This is another hefty price to pay — two firsts plus a potential starting quarterback. But, once more, the positive is that the Bears keep their second rounders in 2021 and 2022. Retaining at least some of their higher picks is essential to their future. Giving up a first and second rounder in the same draft would be hard to endure.
Nevertheless, the conversation revolves around the Bears landing Wilson. If (and this is a big ‘if’) it happened, Chicago would immediately be Super Bowl favorites. I’ll even go out on a limb and say it doesn’t matter which player the Bears give up to land Wilson. He makes them a Super Bowl favorite right that second.
