Losing Ground…

Doug Pederson earned league-wide respect while earning a Super Bowl ring in Philadelphia. Additionally, Frank Reich quickly caught on when duty called in Indianapolis. Both coaches have evident roots to Andy Reid, and the connection not only shows but proves evident in the way that each mature and groom their quarterback room.

Once Pederson arrived in the City of Brotherly Love, the team went ahead and drafted Carson Wentz second-overall out of North Dakota State. However, even after Wentz put up MVP numbers before tearing his ACL during the 2017 season, Pederson decided he wanted to bring in a few more passing talents in hopes that they could positively impact the Eagles depth under center. So, who did the Eagles staff decide to bring in? None other than Nick Foles while later adding Josh McCown, Nate Sudfeld and Kyle Lauletta.

Just two years after Foles won a Super Bowl Championship and MVP Trophy, Pederson continued to tinker. What happened? The Eagles shocked the world and decided to further invest within the quarterback position by drafting Oklahoma prospect, Jalen Hurts.  Not a bad move, Doug.

Don’t think we forgot about Reich and the Colts now… I mean, how could we? This is the same team that had XFL star, P.J. Walker in their training camp. This is the same franchise that lost Andrew Luck just days before the start on an NFL season, and somehow were able to swipe Jacoby Brissett away from the clutches of the New England Patriots.

Matter of fact, the Colts weren’t content with the average play of Brissett and decided to court Charger’s great, Phillip Rivers. Pretty incredible, right?

But it didn’t stop there. The Colts continued to invest into their passing attack by spending a draft pick on University of Washington prospect, Jacob Eason. Nothing like drafting a highly talented passer that gets to sit and learn behind a possible future Hall of Fame inductee.

It’s clear that majority of Andy Reid disciples see that the one way to maintain consistent success in the National Football League is to keep the quarterback pipeline flush with young talent. So, what does this mean for Matt Nagy and the Bears? Lets dig a bit deeper…
