Chicago Bulls: An early look at 5 free agent big men
By Ryan Heckman
1. Power Forward Montrezl Harrell, Unrestricted
One of the most enticing free agent big men on the market this offseason will be Los Angeles Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell. He has had a unique start to his career. Still just 26 years old, Harrell has improved each and every season since entering the NBA as a late second-round pick back in 2015 out of Louisville.

He has become proof that second rounders can and do turn into gems occasionally. Harrell spent the first two seasons of his career with the Houston Rockets before playing for the Clippers. This past year, he was having the best season yet as a pro, and still coming off the bench.
In 2019-2020, Harrell posted 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. Although he primarily came off the bench, Harrell still played roughly 28 minutes per night.
Whatever the Bulls do this offseason in their front court, Harrell is a great option. We aren’t yet sure what Arturas Karnisovas wants to do with each and every player on the roster, but Harrell could either start or come in as a reserve.
After having such a strong year, though, Harrell may be looking for starter’s money. That’s the trick with his unrestricted status, coming off a phenomenal season with Los Angeles.
