5. Addison Russell’s Game Six Grand Slam

Yep, another moment where history was made. When Addison Russell stepped up to bat in the third inning, with the bases loaded, the Cubs were already up by three runs. Then Russell would blow the game wide open with a grand slam to put the Cubs up 7-0.

As mentioned above, what made Russell’s grand slam so significant is the fact that it blew the game wide open. This essentially can be considered the “nail in the coffin” of the Indians chances to close out Game Six at home and extend the series to seven games.

What’s even more interesting about Russell’s grand slam is that it was the first in a World Series in nearly 11 years, with Paul Konerko‘s grand slam during the World Series in 2005 being the last time the a grand slam in the World Series happened.

Up until Russell’s grand slam, all the momentum was in the Cubs favor.  After this, the score would remain 7-2 until the Cubs would score two runs in the ninth inning while the Indians would score one run in the ninth inning to finish the game off.
