4. Aroldis Chapman’s three-inning save in Game Five
So it’s Game Five at Wrigleyville, the Cubs are down three games to one and the focus is on just one thing: Win in order to send the series back to Cleveland for Game Six. While the Cubs would lead for the most of the game, the Indians would come back to score one run in the sixth inning in order to cut the deficit down to 3-2.
Come the seventh inning, the Indians had an opportunity to tie the game, however, then-Cubs manager Joe Maddon acted quickly and brought in Aroldis Chapman, who’d eventually earn his first save of the series and his fourth save of the 2016 postseason.
Remember that earlier that season, the Cubs traded for Chapman in July, specifically because he was the one piece that many thought would help this team get to the World Series. Chapman had made a name for himself with fastballs, most of which would be nearly 100 miles per hour.
While the Cubs relied heavily on Chapman in games six and seven, his save in game five is what allowed for the Cubs to extend the series and eventually head back to Cleveland, which would set the stage for another thrilling matchup.
