Roddy White must not remember his rookie year too well, because the Bears had veteran quarterback Jeff Blake on the roster in what would be Blake’s final year of his career back in 2005. Sure it might have been Blake’s last season in the NFL, but to completely disregard the fact he played for the Bears is unfortunate.

Blake’s career as a pro spanned from 1992 all the way to when he retired after the 2005 season. His best years were with the Cincinnati Bengals from 1994-1999. Blake was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1995 when he threw for over 3,800 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also ran for 309 yards and two touchdowns that season, giving him over 4,100 total yards and 31 touchdowns on the year.

As a Bear, Blake was mostly a backup to Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton in 2005 and narrowly missed the Super Bowl season when Chicago faced off against the Indianapolis Colts. That one season with Chicago, Blake only attempted nine passes but he completed eight of them for 55 yards and a touchdown.

In total, Blake’s career ended with him amassing nearly 22,000 yards passing and throwing 134 touchdowns.
