Chicago Bears: An early look at potential surprise roster cuts
By Ryan Heckman
2. Kicker Eddy Pineiro
Out of most these guys on this list, Eddy Pineiro would qualify as nearly the biggest long shot to get cut. Last year, he ended up winning the job after what seemed like a dozen kickers came through Halas Hall.

But, this year, the Bears signed Ramis Ahmed to come in and compete with Pineiro. Don’t overlook the fact that Pace and Nagy have spoken the word “competition” once again when it comes to the kicker position.
Ahmed comes to the Bears after kicking in college at Nevada. His last year with Nevada came in 2018, and he finished his college career making 15 of 20 field goals. His numbers don’t jump off the chart, but then again, college kickers are so difficult to judge sometimes. You. never know how they will pan out in the NFL.
Because Pineiro’s contract is not guaranteed, there is always a possibility of the Bears moving on, should he struggle in camp and preseason. This is still a position which the Bears must get figured out for the long haul, and Pineiro definitely had his issues in 2019.
At times last season, many of us fans thought to ourselves that this team still hadn’t solidified the kicker. Pineiro has to perform well in camp, or else the questions will keep coming.
