Weeks 1-4

Week 1: Sunday September 13th @ Detroit Lions – 12:00PM

To kick things off, the Bears take on the Detroit Lions on the road. It’s a typical noon game and it will be their first opportunity to see highly-touted rookies Jeffrey Okudah and D’Andre Swift in action. Although games with the Lions can typically be unpredictable, the Bears come away with a close, hard-fought opening weekend victory. Prediction: Win (1-0)

Week 2: Sunday September 20th vs. New York Giants – 12:00PM

Last year, the Bears saw Daniel Jones as a rookie. Will Jones have tempered the turnover problem as a sophomore? Not in this one. The Bears’ front seven wrecks Jones and the Giants offense in this game — the home opener at Soldier Field. New York leaves this game with a loss, and it will be a lopsided one. Prediction: Win (2-0)

Week 3: Sunday September 27th @ Atlanta Falcons – 12:00PM

This is a tough one to predict, because while the Falcons’ defense is average at best, their offense can put up points in a hurry. Any day you have to defend the likes of Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and newly-acquired Todd Gurley, it’s a tough matchup. The question is, will Gurley look like old Gurley, or will his workload be shifted in Atlanta? This is a close game, but the Bears can’t keep up with the Falcons’ offense. Prediction: Loss (2-1)

Week 4: Sunday October 4th vs. Indianapolis Colts – 12:00PM

The Colts could be a sneaky team this year. They have arguably the best offensive line in all of football and just added a physically-dominant rookie running back in Jonathan Taylor. On top of that, Philip Rivers comes to Indy to try and bring this franchise over the hump. The Colts will be better than most think on defense, so this one could be a close one. Ultimately, I think Rivers gives it away a couple of times and that’s the difference. Prediction: Win (3-1)
