Defense

The Chicago Bears have an elite defense. It very well might be the best defense in the National Football League. They used some draft capital on defensive backs in the draft and added a guy like Robert Quinn to their defensive front. They have some elite players at other positions like Khalil Mack, Kyle Fuller, Eddie Jackson, and Akiem Hicks to go along with them. It should be one of the top groups in the league once again.

For this reason, they cannot be wasted. A defense of this caliber doesn’t come around with everybody sticking around for multiple years very often. They made the trade for Mack with the intention of eventually winning the Super Bowl. The offense being as bad as it was in 2019 is honestly a disgrace to this group. They deserve so much more from their offensive counterparts.

There are so many reasons the offense was bad in 2019 but the low-level running game didn’t help. A lot of it had to do with Matt Nagy’s decision making but that is fixable. If you add a good back like Freeman, they might be able to have a guy in there that you can count on regularly. If he is able to come in and resemble the Freeman that we’ve come to know when he was with the Falcons, this could become a good rushing attack. Play defense and run the ball.
