Chicago Bears: Top players affected by Ted Ginn Jr., Tashaun Gipson

Ginn’s presence will directly affect…
When the Bears drafted Darnell Mooney in the fifth round of this year’s draft, they traded up to do so. The Tulane speedster may have gone overlooked by many throughout the draft process, but not Pace — and this is another one of those picks we’re hoping Pace looks like a genius, a la Eddie Jackson or Adrian Amos.

The Bears needed to add speed to their receiving core. That’s exactly what Mooney brings to the table. However, that’s also what the veteran Ginn brings to the table. That’s been his calling card since he was drafted back in 2007.
Ginn will give the Bears a field-stretching receiver who can step in and start in that role, potentially. But, it will also allow Matt Nagy to get creative with his offensive sets. Now, with Ginn and Mooney, he could put them both out on the field in certain scenarios and really offer some speed to take the top off of defenses.
Mooney might not play as much as he would have, had the Bears not signed Ginn, but I think he will benefit greatly from Ginn being there. As a rookie, and a guy who wasn’t necessarily drafted too high, Mooney has a chance to sit back and learn a lot from Ginn — someone who has been around plenty of winning in his career.
Ginn is on a 1-year deal, so it’s unlikely he comes back next year. But, while he’s in Chicago, he’ll offer Mooney a wealth of knowledge.
