Chicago Bears: 5 biggest questions remaining following NFL Draft
Will there be a 2020 season?
Our first question isn’t unique to the Bears, but it’s included because until this one is answered, none of the ones that follow matter at all. So let’s get right down to it — will there be a 2020 season at all?
As mentioned above, the COVID-19 crisis has thrown professional sports into a tailspin. The National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, and Major League Baseball are the leagues feeling the pinch the most because they are “in-season.”
Fortunately, the National Football League still has some time before its season begins. So there is still hope that by September, things will have calmed down enough to have a full 2020 season. But what the season will look like remains in question. This may include canceling bye weeks and the Pro Bowl, but officials are still remaining optimistic. There have also been discussions about shortening the season or taking other measures like not allowing fans to attend.
In other words, everything is on the table. The NFL clearly wants to get back to business for obvious reasons, so they will do everything they can to make that happen. In the meantime, the Bears will try their best to prepare for a season that may never happen. And if it doesn’t, it will have a number of consequences, many of which, haven’t even been complicated. But for now, let’s stay optimistic and assume there will be football in 2020. If so, who will be under center?
