Eddie Olczyk

The Chicago Blackhawks have incredible alumni. There are Hall of Fame superstars in the mix but none are more beloved than Ed Olczyk. He is the only former player on this list but he is definitely someone who could fill this role someday. There are people who think he might even get into management or something like that one day again but a role as the team president could really fit for him. Since retiring, he did coach in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins but it didn’t last very long.

He played for a bunch of teams throughout his career and one of them was Chicago. He is also a Chicago native so that would make this job one that should mean a lot to him if he ever had it. Ed was a great player in his NHL career as he had 342 goals and 452 assists for 794 points in 1031 games played. He also won the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. He knows what it takes to build a team that can win.

Since being fired by Pittsburgh, he has assumed a very successful career in broadcasting. He is NBC Sports’ lead color commentator for hockey and a part of their Triple Crown horse racing coverage. You can tell when he does interviews that he has an itch to get back in the competitive side of things. You can tell through his broadcasting and interview material that he is a wise hockey mind that would make a great team president.
