Jamie Newman

Rounding out our list is Jamie Newman of the University of Georgia. Newman was a player who caught my eye leading up to this year’s draft. At the time, he had not yet decided whether he was going to declare or return to school.

He only had a total of 15 starts in his career at Wake Forest but flashed a lot to like on tape this past season. Although he lacks experience, he, like others on this list, shows poise and decision-making beyond his years.

He has a plus arm, is incredibly accurate, and does a fantastic job going through his progressions. The question will be whether he can do it consistently. To that end, Newman transferred to Georgia where he will step up in class going against SEC opponents.

Next. Pace hoping history doesn't repeat itself. dark

If Newman can do the same things in the SEC that he did at Wake, and do it over the course of an entire season, he is really going to improve his draft status. Newman could be the perfect fit for the Bears based on his skillset (smart, athletic, confident) as well as availability. He could fall right in the sweet spot of where the Bears are expected to draft in the first round.
