Trey Lance

If you’re looking for the high-ceiling, unlimited upside option that will really get the blood flowing, then Trey Lance is the quarterback you’re going to want to get to know. He is by far the most intriguing prospect of this entire group and the one who immediately flashes when you watch his film.

Although Lance is technically draft-eligible next year, he may not choose to declare. Whether he does is obviously entirely dependent on how he plays next season. But if 2019 is any indication, whether he declares could be a foregone conclusion.

Yes, he played in the FCS for North Dakota State, but Lance put up 2,786 yards while throwing 28 touchdowns and exactly 0 interceptions. Yes, you read that right — his TD/INT ratio last season was 28/0. You don’t put up that kind of ratio unless your decision-making is impeccable — and his is.

You may want to get on board the Trey Lance hype-train because it might not be at the station long.

Lance has everything you want in a quarterback. He’s got a strong arm, he’s athletic, calm in the pocket, can throw off-platform, make something happen when plays break down (rushed for 1,110 yards and 14 touchdowns last season) and has the confidence, demeanor, and charisma you need in a franchise quarterback.

This may sound like hyperbole, but there is a chance that next draft season, there are legitimate conversations about whether Lance or Lawrence could be the No. 1 overall pick. It’s early, but we have a leader in the clubhouse for my 2021 NFL Draft crush.
