Chase Brice

Chase Brice, the former four-star out of Loganville, Georgia committed to Clemson University in 2017 and redshirted his freshman year. The following season, Trevor Lawrence arrived and it quickly became apparent to Brice that he was going to need to transfer for playing time as Lawrence became entrenched as the team’s starter.

In limited action in 2018 and 2019 for the Tigers, Brice looked the part of a big-time quarterback, completing 82 passes on 136 attempts good for a 60 percent completion rate. However, Brice chose to leave Clemson for Duke University where he will work with famed quarterback guru, David Cutcliffe.

Cutcliffe most recently helped turned Daniel Jones from a good player to the sixth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He has also worked with both Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, so he certainly knows how to identify and develop franchise quarterbacks.

Although there is scant tape out there on Brice, what is viewable shows a quarterback with excellent touch on his passes, particularly the deep ball. He looked relatively comfortable in the pocket, which was good to see considering his inexperience. It’s difficult to provide a full valuation without much tape, but his talent level and his opportunity to work with a guy like Cutliffe will have me glued to the tv this fall.
