Round 7

Real quickly, I’d like to draw your attention to the above photo, because that’s what this round was about — Pace. Let’s pretend there were actually photos available of both these guys he drafted, though. Spoiler: Getty Images had none, and usually that’s a bad sign.

Pace finally addressed the offensive line late in the draft, and took fliers on two guys you’ve probably never heard of.

OL Arlington Hambright, Colorado

Arlington Hambright was a tackle at Colorado, but projects to be a guard in the pros. He isn’t as long as you’d like for a tackle in the NFL. His footwork also needs improvement. NFL.com’s evaluation also keys in on the fact that he could struggle as a guard, because he isn’t as quick as he should be there.

OT Lachavious Simmons, Tennessee State

This was a complete waste of a pick. Lachavious Simmons didn’t even have an evaluation by any top football outlet available. None. Zero. We hardly know anything about this guy, which is likely another reason Pace went with him. He wants to prove something.

Grades: F

The Bears get an ‘F’ for both of these picks. First off, they should have addressed the line earlier in the draft. Second, this is a time where you could take your shots on players like quarterback Anthony Gordon or tight end Thaddeus Moss — players with a lot more film and a wealth of knowledge behind them.

Overall, I think this could be a draft class that gets Pace fired. There isn’t a lot to love, here. Hopefully I am proved wrong, but Bears fans shouldn’t feel comfortable with this haul. Not one bit.
