Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have had an interesting draft so far. They made the third overall pick on Thursday night and landed a very good player. The selected Jeffrey Okudah from Ohio State University with that third overall pick. It is a very strong pick for them as they look to improve their defense.  It won’t be fun watching the Chicago offense trying to attack him over the next few years.

The second day of the draft was another strong one for them. They got right back at it by selecting D’Andre Swift. Swift is a running back for Georgia who was a very good player for the Bulldogs.  He was impressive as a back that can be good in the rush and pass attack. He had 1218 rushing yards on 196 attempts. He added in 216 yards on 24 receptions. He had seven rushing touchdowns and one touchdown reception for eight total for Georgia. It was a fantastic pick for them.

Later on, they selected some Julian Okwara from Notre Dame. He is a defensive lineman that hopes to help Detroit get more pressure on the quarterback. Jonah Jackson was their third and final selection of the evening. He is a guard from Ohio State University. He is looking to help the Lions offensive line do a better job of protecting Matthew Stafford. Overall, it was a fairly good night for Detroit as they attempt to get out of the basement of the NFC North.
