The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft saw some interesting selections, which should have the Chicago Bears seriously considering what to do next.

Buckle up, friends. We’re just getting started. The Chicago Bears finally take center stage tonight after the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft concluded last night. With two picks in hand during the second round, general manager Ryan Pace has some power at the moment.

But, first, let’s look back at the first round and find out exactly where the Bears are at. It was an interesting first round that began somewhat steady. The first five picks were fairly predictable, for the most part.

It became interesting when the Jacksonville Jaguars selected cornerback C.J. Henderson out of Florida. It wasn’t an outlandish pick, but many had him going a few picks later. That’s where the ball got rolling.

At no. 12, the Las Vegas Raiders took Henry Ruggs III as the first wideout off the board — surprising many, to say the least. We then saw Jerry Jeudy go at no. 15 to the Denver Broncos, but arguably the most shocking wide receiver situation was that of CeeDee Lamb falling all the way to no. 17 with the Dallas Cowboys.

Just before Lamb, though, is where another head-scratcher took place: Cornerback A.J. Terrell went to the Atlanta Falcons — and he could have been a second-round corner, at least according to most experts.

One of the weirder picks was at no. 19, where the Bears were slotted to pick, but instead it goes to the Raiders as part of the Khalil Mack trade. Las Vegas took cornerback Damon Arnette, another potential second or third-round guy.

A few more names to go in the first which we didn’t quite fully expect: Jalen Reagor (PHI), Brandon Aiyuk (SF), Jordyn Brooks (SEA), Noah Igbinoghene (MIA) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (KC).

There are always bound to be some surprises, but this year’s first round seemed like it left a whole heck of a lot of talent on the table, and luckily for the Bears, they have those two picks in the second round. So, the question is now, what does Pace do with those picks? Let’s analyze two particular scenarios.
