Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions had a lot of speculation around their pick in the 24 hours prior to the draft. They were in discussions to be a team that moves back a few picks.  The Miami Dolphins were in rumors amongst other teams. Well, they ended up keeping their pick and made the third overall selection of the night.

They selected Jeffrey Okudah from Ohio State University. He is a defensive back that will be their starting cornerback right away. He automatically makes their defense better.  Okudah had a great year with the Buckeyes en route to the College Football Playoff. They were ultimately defeated by the Clemson Tigers in the Fiesta Bowl.

Okudah was brilliant in his junior year statistically. It was a great defense that got lots of pressure on the quarterback,  and he thrived in the backfield. He had three interceptions, one forced fumble, and 34 total tackles in 13 games for OSU.

This is something that should somewhat worry Bears fans. Okudah is going to continue to get better as his pro seasons go on and the Bears have to face him right away. He will be there next year trying to make life hard on either Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky. With little confidence in either quarterback as fans, Okudah could really prove to be a difference-maker when they go up against each other.
