Chicago Bears: Best available players after day one

7. IOL Lloyd Cushenberry, LSU
While Lloyd Cushenberry was a center in college, keep in mind that at the NFL level, there are some teams who may view him as a guard. With the Bears having a competition at right guard, there’s no clear cut starter and if given an opportunity to compete for the starting job, Cushenberry could step up and be the solution to the Bears right guard woes.
Many thought that he’d be a first-round pick but after a run on quarterbacks, defensive backs, and wide receivers, he’s quietly available. He’s one of the most competitive offensive linemen in this draft class and he’d easily bring the mindest and demeanor needed to play offensive lineman in the NFL.
Cushenberry has a solid anchor point meaning he’s not going to be easily pushed back by defensive lineman in the NFL. Another thing that makes Cushenberry so intriguing is the fact that he’s easily got one of the highest ceilings of many of the offensive lineman that are still available.
Ahead of the Bears, there are teams like the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, and Jacksonville Jaguars who could easily fall in love with Cushenberry and decide to snag him before the Bears have an opportunity to.
