6. WR Denzel Mims, Baylor
Prior to the NFL Draft, many thought the Bears would have a chance to draft Brandon Aiyuk (Arizona State) and Jalen Reagor (TCU) in the second round. With both being drafted in round one, Denzel Mims is a name to keep an eye on.
Mims possesses the size and speed to excel in the Bears offense. One of the biggest things to takeaway from watching his film is that when it comes to making catches in contested situations, he’s able to remain focused everytime.
Perhaps one of the reasons that Mims has slipped is because he’s not as physical as he can be. When he has to play against cornerbacks who are in press coverage, he’s unable to win physically which will be an issue for him at the next level.
During his final season at Baylor, Mims had 66 receptions, 1020 yards, averaging 15.5 yards per reception, along with 12 touchdowns. He’s proven that he can be an asset for any team. One team to keep an eye on is that could select Mims before the Bears pick would be the Carolina Panthers, who hired Mims college coach Matt Rhule.
