Chicago Bears: Three things to watch in first round with no pick
A Potential Trade
The Chicago Bears don’t have that first-round pick anymore. The pick that they would have had would be higher than they want because they only went 8-8 in 2019. We know why they failed to meet expectations and those reasons are well documented. That doesn’t mean that they are guaranteed to not take part in selecting a first-round talent.
There is still a chance that they trade into the latter part of the first round. They have two second-round picks to play with and of course, later round picks along with roster players they could move. It might be unlikely, but it is certainly something that is possible. There could be a guy they really want that they feel that they need so they could do what they need to do to get him.
Ryan Pace has traded up to get his guy, no matter the round, multiple times. He might not hesitate to do that this year if he feels it is necessary. This is a big draft for Pace and the company so they might do everything they can to make 2020 a successful year. We don’t know who or what they would trade to complete such a move but it is certainly possible.
The draft is one of the most important days for all 32 teams on the football calendar. The league can become a completely different place with the draft. It can fill teams with sadness years down the line because of missed opportunities and it could change the fortunes of a franchise with a single pick. Even though they don’t have a first-round pick as of right now, all fans should still watch.
